Santa Rosa de Lima Hospital

In November 2025, our Junior Board member Alana Stuart visited Clínica Santa Rosa de Lima in Honduras and witnessed firsthand the challenges the community faces due to a lack of essential medical equipment. Inside the busy clinic, she discovered an operating room sitting unused behind caution tape, largely untouched for nearly a decade.

Alana’s passion for medicine and her goal of becoming a neurosurgeon inspired her to take action. She returned to Miami and founded an initiative to help restore and reopen the operating room, bringing together students, local businesses, and members of her community through creative fundraising efforts from fitness and cooking events to restaurant collaborations and fishing competitions.

Her initiative has since grown to 20+ fundraisers and more than $25,000 raised, bringing her closer to her $50,000 goal to help restore the operating room and expand access to medical care.

For Alana, the mission extends beyond reopening one room. It is about helping close the distance between patients and the care they need.
