Uganda: Home of Dreams Orphanage
We began supporting the Home of Dreams Orphanage in Uganda in 2020 when its director Wanume reached out for help with clothing and school supplies. Wanume cares for 20 children ranging in age from 1 to 18 and works tirelessly not only to provide daily care but also to ensure that each child receives an education and the opportunity to build an independent future after graduation.
While we initially provided basic support, it was our Junior Board Chair Victoria Gonchar, who envisioned a long-term solution. Taking the initiative she launched her own outreach and fundraising efforts to create lasting change. Through her dedication Victoria raised enough funds to purchase three acres of farmland for the orphanage in 2023.
Thanks to her vision Home of Dreams is now growing cassava, sweet potatoes, bananas, and other vegetables on the property. Wanume has also been able to purchase ducks and chickens which provide eggs and additional nutrition for the children. As Wanume often says “It is better that you are teaching me how to fish instead of giving me fish”. Victoria is currently raising funds to take the next important steps, building a coop for the chickens and ducks to help strengthen long-term food stability , drilling a water well on the property, and constructing a new orphanage building to provide safe and stable housing. She is deeply grateful for the kindness, trust, and support of the donors and new friends from around the world who continue to make this journey possible.
Please join Victoria in supporting this life-changing work.
