Since August of 2020, Big Dreams has been working on a very big, new project! We would like to introduce to you Polina, a 7-year old girl from Eastern Ukraine. Polina has a birth defect that not only affects her leg development but also causes infection in her foot. Big Dreams has covered several emergency medical treatments and the cost of new day and night orthoses.

Big Dreams was going to sponsor a trip for Polina to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, TX, that has agreed to operate to save her foot and extend Polina’s leg in 2 stages. But unfortunately her appointment for a visa interview at the US Embassy in Kyiv has been cancelled without any explanation. This forced us to regroup and find an amazing doctor in Ukraine. Dr Dmitriy Ershov in Dnipro has performed a surgery on Polina’s foot and started the process of extenting her leg using the Ilizarov external fixator. Everything is going exceptionally well and we are proud to inform that her right leg has already been extended several inches.
